July 26, 1669 Prince Giovan Battista Rospigliosi bought from Ludovisi the Castle of Gallicano, Castle of Colonna and the State of Zagarolo. One year later, he married Maria Camilla, nephew of Cardinal Lazzaro Pallavicini, who inherit the title, the coat of arms and the name. On march 29, 1729 Niccolo' Pallavicini bought from Gian Lorenzo Bernini's mother, for 1500 scudo, a vineyard with a "casina" in the area of Gallicano, near San Pastore: the so called VILLETTA, which is now in the core of a secular park. Between pine, cedar and horse-chestnut, there is a mirror of elliptic water surronded by a banister. This is the fountain of Bernini, the one who he projected to reflect the Casino of Aurora in the pensile garden of Palazzo Pallavicini in Rome. At the beginning of the century it was moved in front of his old house. A Cypress avenue brings to a nineteenth-century little church, dedicated to San Francesco. All around the garden the open hair is surronded by gazebo, like in a green sitting-room. During the night a fresh swimming-pool becomes a place of relax and comfort. |
