D'Este, governor of Tivoli. Famous for its ingenious and successful
use of the waters of the Aniene in the fountains. Its rooms carry
frescoes by the 16th century Roman school.

Tuscolo
The
origins of the city of Tuscolo date from the 10th century
BC.
There
are many archaeological finds from the Roman period, including the
remains of a 2nd century AD amphitheatre.

Started
in the late 1500s by Giacomo della Porta on instructions from Cardinal
Pietro Aldobrandini, grandson of Pope Clement VIII.
Surrounded
by a magnificent park, it is famous for its "Theatre of the Waters".

PALESTRINA
Temple
of the Goddess Fortuna
Datable
between the mid second and early first centuries BC.
As
large as the present Palestrina, it is on two levels.
Rites
of divination took place on the upper level.
It
was one of the most famous and most visited temples of antiquity.

Rospigliosi-Pallavicini
Ducal Palace
In
1295 the present nucleus was a fortress of the Colonna family. In
1583 it was enlarged and modified. It became the property of the
Rospigliosi in 1670. Frescoed by the school of Giulio Romano.
